AF Nikon 10.5mm f/2.8G ED (DX Fisheye)

This is first fisheye lens developed exclusively for use with Nikon DX format cameras, providing an ultra-wide picture angle of 180 degrees achieved by producing a smaller image circle (the size of the image that is projected by the lens onto the sensor) enabling a smaller lens diameter, lighter weight and optimal image quality from center-to-edge-to-corner on the image. This lens has a minimum focus distance of 0.14m from the lens front, making extreme distorted close-ups possible. This fisheye lens consists of Extra-low Dispersion (ED) glass element which minimizes chromatic aberration. The built-in lens hood prevent any possible ghosting and flares.

Optics and image quality:
Images that come out of the lens are sharp, but with some unsharp bits as you move to the sides of the frame. Vignetting isn't much of an issue here. Distortion wise, there is no point mentioning it here since you buy this lens for distortion. If you want to save money and process photos out of this fisheye to normal wide angle lenses photos, use post-processing softwares. The distortions are quite easy to correct.

Ergonomics & build:
This fisheye is well-built to near pro quality, with Nikon's famous black finish which you will find in most pror lenses. Weather sealing is included at the mount of the lens to prevent moisture and dust going into the camera. Lens size fits well in my hands, not too big, not too small. The weight of the lens is well-balanced with most cameras. However, the front element pokes out in a sphere shape in order to create the fisheye effect, therefore no filter thread for filters. Users who like to put a UV filter in front for protection can't anymore, and have to pay special attention of not to scatch the lens.

Usefulness:
Fisheye lenses are made to be used creatively. If you like more serious looking photos and nothing much fancy, don't even bother with this lens. But if you are the kind of person who likes to try new stuff and be creative, spend the money on this lens. You will love it, like how I did.
