Canon 60D

The ancient 50D from Canon is finally replaced by this new 60D! But hold on, what are the changes? Is it worth the upgrade?

The image sensor that the 60D takes is the one that you can find in the 550D or in the 7D; the 18mp APS-C sized sensor, managing the range of ISO from 100-6400 (expandable to 12800). It also has the usual full HD video recording, live-view, but a first 3-inch 1040k dots vari-angle LCD screen in Canon's world. Sports photography is quite managable on this camera as it does 5.3 frames per second during burst rate.

However, the down sides to this camera are that the viewfinder only has a coverage of 96%, while its competitor has a 100% coverage. It still keeps the old 50D's 9-point AF system, which was quite slow and quite outdated.

Who should buy this camera?

I don't know. The 'good features' of this camera were already seen on other Canon products, and where some of them overlap with the ones the cheaper 550D have. It is so reluctant of me to recommend this camera to others is beacuse of the AF system. Why would Canon still keep their old 9-point AF system when Nikon decided to put in a new 39-point AF system? The 9-point AF system is slow, and is often complained for being inaccurate.

If you are new to photography, I would recomment geting the 550D over this 60D, and the money saved from this camera body can let you invest in better lenses.
